The conductive level switch of the model series FK01 is used in connection with the electrode relay FKE for detection of the level of conductive liquids.

An alternating current is applied to an electrode electrically insulated from the tank wall. If the electrode is wetted by the medium, a small current can flow from the electrode through the medium to the wall of the tank. In case of plastic tanks a second electrode has to be mounted as ground. This current signal is detected by the relay and serves as the signal for the switch.
